大三春季学期的任何时候都可以, a student who wishes to embark on a senior year honors project must ask an 英语 faculty member with expertise in their chosen subject to be their project director. The student will present an informal thesis statement and a plan for their work to their potential project director. Students should have a confirmed director for their project before the end of the spring semester of their junior year.

Students may choose to begin developing their project over the summer break before work begins in earnest in the fall semester of their senior year.

在他们大四的秋季学期开始的时候, students are expected to find two readers for their project (in addition to their project director) from among the 英语 faculty or faculty outside the department.

A committee comprising the project director and all three readers will read and evaluate the final draft of the project. The student will meet with the committee in early May to discuss their project as a whole. After this meeting, the student will receive a summary of the evaluation from their project director. The student's project director will assign the final grade for the honors project in collaboration with the three readers.
